You may feel a little nervous cooking in a solar cooker for the first time. Here are a few recipes to build your confidence. Yes, food actually cooks! And if it doesn't, you can probably finish cooking the dish in the kitchen, camping store, etc. (It's not a big deal. It's a learning process.)
For consistency these recipes were all cooked in a 27"x34" (69x86cm) Cookit solar cooker with a 6"x3" (15x8cm) cake pan and glass plate/lid. If you are using a different cooker, you can adapt the recipe for your needs by adding/subtracting more time, allowing air to leave the cooker, or rotating the cooker for more or less sunlight. All cook times are approximate. The time does not include prep time. If you would like to shorten the cooking time, preheat the cooker while you are prepping the food. (Don't preheat an evacuated tube cooker.) Recipes on this website are not preheated unless specifically noted
